Objectives

The #BeActive EU Sport Awards 2026 aim to reward and give visibility to activities that have successfully promoted sport and physical activity as means to support health, inclusion, inter-generational dialogue, volunteering and peace across Europe. The Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of sport organisations, stakeholders and, where applicable, individuals that have successfully promoted sport and physical activity. They acknowledge the key role of sport in promoting healthy lifestyles and well-being and its capacity to address EU priorities such as fostering social inclusion, encouraging intergenerational dialogue, combating discrimination, promoting active community engagement, contributing to long-term socio-economic development and spreading positive values.

The call is organised around five complementary categories. Physical activity recognises initiatives that create opportunities for people of all ages to integrate movement into their daily lives and strengthen awareness of the link between regular physical activity and health, particularly the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Inclusion rewards activities using sport to promote social inclusion, gender equality, diversity and unity and to empower underrepresented or disadvantaged groups. Volunteering recognises organisations and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to sport through volunteer work, leadership and community engagement. Across generations supports initiatives that bring people of different ages together through sport, improve access to physical activity for all generations and strengthen communities. Peace recognises organisations that use sport to bring together diverse communities, transcend differences and foster dialogue, tolerance and cooperation.
