Objectives

This call funds EDF Development actions through actual cost grants and targets eligible consortia to develop and mature defence capabilities across eleven topics. It supports the development of next generation electronic warfare systems by integrating technologies such as radiofrequency electronics, digital technology and machine learning, aiming at faster decision-making and improved situational awareness. It seeks to develop GNSS modules for PRS with NAVWAR capabilities for integration into defence systems and to demonstrate effectiveness under NAVWAR conditions. It addresses greening of the next generation of multi-energy systems in military applications, and promotes solutions that support climate-neutrality objectives while strengthening the security of European energy supply. It also targets an ammunition waste collection and disposal unmanned platform to reduce human involvement in cleanup operations and improve efficiency in post-conflict and training environments.

The call promotes smart and multifunctional textiles for future soldier systems, as well as next generation self-protection systems to increase operational capabilities and survivability. It supports smart technologies for next generation fighter systems (including avionics architectures), a multiple rocket launcher system, and future main battle tank platform systems, alongside a secure digital military mobility system and enhanced medium-size semi-autonomous surface vessels. Across topics, expected results emphasise interoperability, standardisation, strengthening European technological sovereignty and strategic autonomy, and reducing or preventing the strategic dependencies of the Union.
