The Laboratory of Thermodynamics and Thermal Engines focuses on education and research in thermodynamics, thermal systems, energy conversion, and sustainable energy technologies. The Laboratory of Thermodynamics and Thermal Engines focuses on education and research in thermodynamics, thermal systems, energy conversion, and sustainable energy technologies. Its activities encompass the production, conversion, management, and efficient utilization of electrical energy, as well as the modeling and control of electrical machines and power electronic systems. The laboratory supports research on energy efficiency, intelligent control strategies, condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and predictive maintenance of industrial and energy systems. Through experimental investigations, advanced simulations, and modern measurement techniques, it aims to develop innovative solutions that enhance system performance, reliability, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
Field of Research
The laboratory's research activities focus on Thermodynamics and Thermal Engines, Electrical Energy Generation and Management, Power Electronics, and the Modeling and Control of Electrical Machines. Particular emphasis is placed on energy efficiency and energy-saving technologies, intelligent control systems, and advanced power conversion techniques. The laboratory also conducts research on fault diagnosis and predictive maintenance through condition monitoring methodologies, integrating Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) models for the detection, classification, prognosis, and prevention of faults in industrial and energy systems. These activities support the development of reliable, sustainable, and high-performance engineering solutions for modern energy and industrial applications.
