Introduction - Presentation

Field of Research

The Laboratory serves the educational, research, and developmental needs of the Department. Specifically, it supports the academic fields of Genetics, Cancer Genomics, Genetics of Acquired Diseases, and Translational Medicine, while simultaneously conducting research activities and providing specialized services in the fields of Cancer Genetics and Genomics and Chronic Diseases. The main research areas of the Laboratory include: * Genetically engineered animal models of human diseases. * Development and application of novel genetically engineered mouse models, as well as *ex vivo* organoid and tissue culture systems. * Mechanisms underlying cancer initiation, development, and progression. * Tumor dormancy and mechanisms of cancer recurrence. * Effects of anticancer drugs on the brain and behavior. * Identification and evaluation of biomarkers in the early and progressive stages of Alzheimer's disease. * Investigation of the molecular, genetic, and epigenetic mechanisms involved in cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Through these activities, the Laboratory makes a significant contribution to the advancement of basic, translational, and clinical research, while also supporting the education and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in contemporary and innovative fields of Health Sciences.
